Three Pet Peeves — 30 Days Writing Challenge
What might seem completely harmless can be annoying sometimes. Loud noises, unprotected sneezes, line drifters, and chronic lateness are just a few of our most common pet peeves. What is pet peeve anyway?
A pet peeve : Something that is maybe a bit annoying to most people, but is very annoying or upsetting to a particular person. Everyone has their own pet peeves and it would be vary with each other. Personally, I don’t get annoyed easily by people, but three pet peeves, I listed below are absolutely annoying.
- Dirty people
I wouldn’t call myself the most hygienic person, but at least I tried because I cannot stand dirty people. There are so many people consciously doing dirty behaviors in this whole damn world, no wonder the viruses are spreading fast. People who cough or sneeze without covering their mouths, people who spit in public, people who leave their hands dirty, people who fart around others, etc. But people who smell like dirt or bugs are the worst and would totally disgust me.
2. Overuse of phones
When we I do it, it’s because I have important emails to read or texts to respond to. But other people staring at their screens, in any context, is just rude and inconsiderate. How dare they? Manners, please! What do they have against human interaction and eye contact?
3. People who watch videos in public spaces with no headphones
Anyone who can comfortably watch videos or play songs in public out loud with no headphones on is a brazen you-know-what in my opinion. How is it that their personal entertainment takes precedence over everyone else’s preferences? they have to be a real butthead to do that and think it’s acceptable.
I know that some people are simply unaware of their annoying behavior and some circumstances are completely out of anyone’s control. But there are a number of ways to resolve it. We could start changing how we react to what bothers us, it can potentially turn our whole attitude around . You know, the power of the peeve doesn’t lie in the peever, but in the peeved themselves.
